Overview

â„šī¸
NGC 7801 is a sparse, loose object of very low C3 quality. Its parallax locates it at a moderate* distance, below the mid-plane, affected by low extinction. It is catalogued as an old cluster (see Parameters). It is poorly studied in the literature.

(*): The parallax distance estimate (~2.60 kpc) differs significantly from the median photometric distance (~1.95 kpc).

Cantat-Gaudin et al. (2020)
Long regarded as doubtful or non-existent. Included in some catalogues as a remnant, but evidence is weak. More details in Appendix A of the article.
