Overview

â„šī¸
NGC 6554 is a poorly populated, very loose object of high C3 quality. Its parallax locates it at a relatively close distance, near the mid-plane, affected by moderate extinction. It is catalogued as a near-solar metallicity, intermediate-age cluster, but with a large variance across recent sources for the age and mass parameters (see Parameters). It is poorly studied in the literature.

Liu et al. (2025)
Classified as primordial binary cluster 292 along with NGC_6561, and of multiple system 26 along with CWNU_477 and NGC_6561.

Palma et al. (2025)
Part of multiple system G66, along with NGC_6561 and CWNU_477.

Cavallo et al. (2024)
Gold sample.

Hunt & Reffert (2024)
Classified as open cluster. CMD class: 0.98 (50th percentile).

Hunt & Reffert (2023)
Classified as open cluster. CMD class: 0.98 (50th percentile).

Cantat-Gaudin & Anders (2020)
Marked non-existent; searched for unsuccessfully in several studies despite catalogue entries. More details in Appendix A of the article.

Bica et al. (2019)
Original NGC and IC catalogues at Vizier: NGC 2000.0, Sky Publishing, ed. Sinnott 1988 (1997yCat.7118....0S).

Morales et al. (2013)
Classified as morphological type 'OC2' (totally exposed cluster without correlation with ATLASGAL emission). Morphological flag: one or a few submm emission within the cluster area.
