Overview

ℹ️
NGC 6200 is a moderately populated, very dense object of very high C3 quality. Its parallax locates it at a moderate* distance, near the mid-plane, affected by moderate extinction. It is catalogued as a massive, near-solar metallicity, very young cluster, but with a large variance across recent sources for the metallicity parameter (see Parameters). It is well-studied in the literature.

(*): The parallax distance estimate (~2.88 kpc) differs significantly from the median photometric distance (~2.21 kpc).

Note: This object shares a small percentage of members with a later reported entry. See table with shared members information.

Liu et al. (2025)
Classified as primordial binary cluster 263 along with Hogg_22.

Palma et al. (2025)
Part of multiple system G98, along with Theia_2052 and Hogg_22.

Almeida et al. (2025)
Mass determination: intermediate fit. Isochrone match: intermediate fit.

Cavallo et al. (2024)
Gold sample.

Hunt & Reffert (2024)
Classified as open cluster. CMD class: 1.00 (50th percentile).

Morales et al. (2013)
Classified as morphological type 'OC2' (totally exposed cluster without correlation with ATLASGAL emission). Morphological flag: exposed cluster, without submm emission.

Ahumada & Lapasset (2007)
