Overview

â„šī¸
MCM 79 is a sparse, very dense object of low C3 quality. Its parallax locates it at a moderate* distance, above the mid-plane. It is catalogued as a cluster (see Parameters). It is rarely studied in the literature, with no articles listed in the last 13 years.

(*): The parallax distance estimate (~3.43 kpc) differs significantly from the median photometric distance (~9.89 kpc).

Morales et al. (2013)
Classified as morphological type 'OC1' (totally exposed cluster still physically associated with gas). Morphological flag: exposed cluster, without submm emission, presence of an IR bubble.

Mercer et al. (2005)
Cluster of stars. Associated with mid-IR extended emission. Detected in 2MASS catalog with our algorithm.
