Overview

â„šī¸
Kronberger 2 is a sparse, very loose object of high C3 quality. Its parallax locates it at a relatively close* distance, near the mid-plane, affected by high extinction. It is catalogued as an intermediate-age cluster, but with a large variance across recent sources for the mass parameter (see Parameters). It is poorly studied in the literature.

(*): The parallax distance estimate (~1.65 kpc) differs significantly from the median photometric distance (~3.06 kpc).

Note: This object shares a large percentage of members with a later reported entry. See table with shared members information.

Palma et al. (2025)
Part of multiple system G129, along with OC_0024, UBC_96, HSC_175 and ASCC_94.

Hunt & Reffert (2024)
Classified as open cluster. CMD class: 0.92 (50th percentile).

Hunt & Reffert (2023)
Classified as open cluster. CMD class: 0.92 (50th percentile).

Bica et al. (2019)
Web updates in DAML02, some were later removed (2003 to 2010).

Morales et al. (2013)
Classified as morphological type 'OC2' (totally exposed cluster without correlation with ATLASGAL emission). Morphological flag: exposed cluster, without submm emission.
