Overview

â„šī¸
Hyades is a very rich, very dense object of very high C3 quality. Its parallax locates it at a very close distance, near the mid-plane, affected by low extinction. It is catalogued as a near-solar metallicity, intermediate-age cluster, but with a large variance across recent sources for the absorption and age parameters (see Parameters). It is very well-studied in the literature.

Palma et al. (2025)
Part of multiple system G87, along with FSR_1017 and HSC_1152.

Almeida et al. (2025)
Mass determination: intermediate fit. Isochrone match: good fit. Silver sample.

Cavallo et al. (2024)
Gold sample.

Hunt & Reffert (2024)
Classified as open cluster. CMD class: 1.00 (50th percentile).

Ahumada & Lapasset (2007)
Star 56 is a cluster member acording to the proper motion and radial velocity study (1952BAN....11..385V). Adopted cluster centre: star 57 of the same reference. References (1985ApJ...294L.103A) and (1982A&A...109...37M) cite star 56 as a blue straggler. Star 56=68 Tauri=HD 27962 has a spectrum A3V and an optical companion of magnitude 9 (1982AJ.....87.1527C). The blue straggler does not show anomalous lithium abundances (1989A&A...220..197B). In (1985ApJ...294L.103A) this star is given a spectrum Am(K/H/M=A2/A3:/A5) and a projected velocity v.sin i=18km/s. It has been suggested (2001ApJ...563..971O) that the white dwarf component of the binary V471 Tauri in this cluster descends from a blue straggler. The selected angular diameter in (1987, Lund Catalogue of Open Cluster Data) is listed.
