Overview

â„šī¸
HSC 446 is a sparse, very loose object of low C3 quality. Its parallax locates it at a close distance, above the mid-plane, affected by high extinction. It is catalogued as a near-solar metallicity, intermediate-age cluster, but with a large variance across recent sources for the absorption parameter (see Parameters). It was recently reported in the literature.

âš ī¸ Warning: the low UTI value and no obvious signs of duplication (Cdup=1.0) indicate that this is quite probably an asterism, moving group, or artifact, and not a real open cluster.

Liu et al. (2025)
Classified as primordial binary cluster 353 along with Theia_978, and of multiple system 81 along with UPK_65 and Theia_978.

Palma et al. (2025)
Part of multiple system G178, along with HSC_437, UPK_56, UPK_65 and Theia_978.

Cavallo et al. (2024)
Silver sample.
