HSC 2261 is a poorly populated, very loose object of intermediate C3 quality. Its parallax locates it at a very large* distance, well below the mid-plane, affected by moderate extinction. It is catalogued as a near-solar metallicity, old cluster (see Parameters). It was recently reported in the literature.

(*): The parallax distance estimate (~14.81 kpc) differs significantly from the median photometric distance (~9.30 kpc).
