Overview

â„šī¸
ESO 092 18 is a rich, loose object of high C3 quality. Its parallax locates it at a very large* distance, well below the mid-plane, affected by low extinction. It is catalogued as a very massive, near-solar metallicity, old cluster, but with a large variance across recent sources for the age and mass parameters (see Parameters). It is moderately studied in the literature.

(*): The parallax distance estimate (~18.73 kpc) differs significantly from the median photometric distance (~10.61 kpc).

Note: This object contains blue stragglers according to at least one source.

Note: This object shares a very small percentage of members with a later reported entry. See table with shared members information.

Cavallo et al. (2024)
Gold sample.

Hunt & Reffert (2024)
Classified as open cluster. CMD class: 0.05 (50th percentile).

Hunt & Reffert (2023)
Classified as open cluster. CMD class: 0.05 (50th percentile).

Perren et al. (2022)
Kubiak 1991 estimated ~10 kpc and 8 Gyr; Carraro 1995 gives 8.1 kpc and 5 Gyr. The CMD shows a robust 2-magnitude main sequence with the TO at G=18.5, a well-defined RGB and RC, and BSS candidates in the range 15

Ellipticities (core, all): e_core=0.1819, e_all=0.1297.
