Overview

Collinder 471 is a poorly populated, very dense object of very high C3 quality. Its parallax locates it at a very close* distance, above the mid-plane, affected by high extinction. It is catalogued as a near-solar metallicity, very young cluster (see Parameters). It is poorly studied in the literature.

(*): The parallax distance estimate (~0.34 kpc) differs significantly from the median photometric distance (~2.00 kpc).

Note: This object shares a large percentage of members with 2 later reported entries. See table with shared members information.

Relatively close High extinction Near-solar metallicity Very young

Hunt & Reffert (2024): Classified as a moving group.

Cavallo et al. (2024): Gold sample.

Cantat-Gaudin et al. (2020): Catalogue parameters are highly discrepant. No clear radius or kinematic signature identified. More details in Appendix A of the article.
