Overview

ℹ️
Berkeley 87 is a rich, very dense object of very high C3 quality. Its parallax locates it at a relatively close distance, near the mid-plane, affected by high extinction. It is catalogued as a massive, near-solar metallicity, very young cluster, but with a large variance across recent sources for the distance, metallicity, and mass parameters (see Parameters). It is very well-studied in the literature.

⚠️ Warning: This is possibly a duplicate object, which shares a significant percentage of members with at least one previously reported entry. See table with shared members information.

Liu et al. (2025)
Classified as primordial binary cluster 36 along with Berkeley_86, and of multiple system 17 along with NGC_6913, FoF_2179 and Berkeley_86.

Palma et al. (2025)
Part of multiple system G75, along with HSC_599, Berkeley_86, LP_2179 and NGC_6913.

Almeida et al. (2025)
Mass determination: invalid due to poor quality CMD. Isochrone match: worst fit.

Cavallo et al. (2024)
Silver sample.

Hunt & Reffert (2024)
Classified as open cluster. CMD class: 0.93 (50th percentile).

Ahumada & Lapasset (2007)
The dereddened diagram of possible members in (1982PASP...94..789T) was examined.
