Overview

ℹ️
Berkeley 80 is a moderately populated, very dense object of very high C3 quality. Its parallax locates it at a moderate* distance, near the mid-plane, affected by high extinction. It is catalogued as a near-solar metallicity, intermediate-age cluster, but with a large variance across recent sources for the age and mass parameters (see Parameters). It is well-studied in the literature.

(*): The parallax distance estimate (~2.49 kpc) differs significantly from the median photometric distance (~1.83 kpc).

Palma et al. (2025)
Part of multiple system G233, along with UBC_113, HSC_315 and PHOC_38.

Almeida et al. (2025)
Mass determination: invalid due to poor quality CMD. Isochrone match: worst fit.

Cavallo et al. (2024)
Gold sample.

Hunt & Reffert (2024)
Classified as open cluster. CMD class: 0.99 (50th percentile).

Hunt & Reffert (2023)
Classified as open cluster. CMD class: 0.99 (50th percentile).

Morales et al. (2013)
Classified as morphological type 'OC2' (totally exposed cluster without correlation with ATLASGAL emission). Morphological flag: exposed cluster, without submm emission.
